With its charming cityscape, historic architecture, and romantic photo spots, the Orange County Courthouse offers an elegant and stress-free alternative to a traditional wedding. Here’s your complete guide to planning your beautiful courthouse wedding or elopement in Orlando.

1. Apply for Your Marriage License

  • Visit the Orange County Clerk of Courts website to apply for your marriage license online or in person.

  • Both parties must be present with valid photo ID.

  • Florida residents have a 3-day waiting period unless they’ve completed a premarital course.

  • Cost: $86.00 (or $61.00 with a premarital course certificate).

2. Schedule Your Courthouse Ceremony

  • Ceremonies are held Monday through Friday, typically from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

  • You can schedule in advance or walk in, but an appointment ensures you won’t have to wait.

  • Cost for a civil ceremony is just $30.

3. What to Wear

  • There are no rules! Many couples opt for chic civil ceremony outfits—think short white dresses, jumpsuits, or tailored suits.

  • Bring a bouquet or boutonnière for a pop of color in your photos. I always offer my couples the option to add on a bouquet made by yours truly using whatever flowers are in season at Trader Joe's! Just ask about this while we're planning your day!

  • A veil is always nice to have for even just a few photos! Nothing will make you feel more bridal than a bouquet + veil combo and there are plenty of great options available on Amazon that are cute and affordable.

4. Hire a Photographer

  • A professional photographer can help you capture every special moment, from saying your vows to strolling around Lake Eola afterward.

  • I recommend planning a quick photo session around:

    • Orange County Regional History Center (Pictured in this post, the building with arched green windows)

    • Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts

    • Wall Street Plaza murals

    • Lake Eola Park (especially during golden hour!)

5. Celebrate Afterwards

  • Downtown Orlando has plenty of cute restaurants and rooftop bars for a post-ceremony toast.

  • Consider making a reservation at:

    • The Monroe – modern Southern fare

    • DoveCote – French brasserie vibes

    • Mathers Social Gathering – vintage-style cocktail lounge

Your courthouse wedding in Orlando deserves to be both fun and personal! Just because you aren't going the traditional route, doesn't mean it can't be intimate, beautiful, and uniquely you. With the right planning and a little creativity, your elopement can be just as magical as a big wedding (with a lot less stress).
